Christopher Doozie

Christopher Doozie is a celebrated xylophonist, instrument maker, and cultural ambassador of the Dagara musical tradition. Immersed in a family of gyil (xylophone) makers, he began performing at six and crafted his first instrument by age twelve. With a BSc in Music and Dance from the University of Ghana, Legon, Doozie combines inherited knowledge with decades of innovation, performance, and teaching.

As the founder of Dagarti Arts and Music, he leads a team that produces and promotes over 15 traditional African instruments, including the gyil, djembe, and marimba. Beyond crafting, he is a virtuoso performer, sharing the rich sounds of each instrument he creates.

His career highlights include performing with the Ghana Dance Ensemble, teaching at the Institute of African Studies, contributing to international projects, and performing the xylophone part in the original Lion King animated film. After a brief retirement, Christopher is back, crafting new instruments and sharing his lifelong musical expertise worldwide.
